Passion Projects In Action As Part Of The Haileybury Incubator Project

Over 2020 and 2021 we have had the pleasure of teaming up with the teachers at Haileybury College in Melbourne as part of their Haileybury Incubator Project (HIP). The HIP program runs over 5 days throughout the year for Year 9 students and has been designed to give students the opportunity to bring their passion projects to the life, with the support of teachers and industry mentors.

At BOP we have had the pleasure of supporting these passion projects through a series of virtual masterclasses to help students scaffold their ideas and bring their passions to life. With the program being completed with over 400 students from four campuses in Melbourne, delivering in person can be tricky, so we instead decided to deliver these masterclasses through zoom in short, sharp 50 or 100-minute time slots.

Students would have the option to opt into masterclasses that capture their interest and help them develop their project. When the masterclasses would run, students participating would sign in from the classroom and work with our team to develop and apply the skills required.

Over the course of the program, our team had the pleasure of delivering masterclasses on the following topics:

Business Models 101: How to monetise your ideas by building a solid business model around them.

Product Design: How to create great products designed with your customer in mind.

Branding And Marketing: How to create great brands that your customers will love.

Minimum Viable Products: How to start small with your business idea to get customer feedback before growing from there.

Vlogging And Blogging: How to create brilliant digital content in the form of a vlog or a blog.

Social Media Influencing: How to build and monetise a personal brand on a passion of yours.

Young Professionals: How to create your brand as a young professional in your chosen field.

Pitching 101: How to clearly communicate your ideas to a range of audiences.

The program was also topped and tailed with our 21-year-old CEO and Founder Scott Millar speaking to students about his journey, and sharing top tips to help them push themselves outside of their comfort zones!
