In today’s world, written communication skills are key. From engaging in rapid-fire text conversations with friends, to using teams to chat with group members at school, and composing professional emails to employers and mentors, young people today spend a lot of time connecting and collaborating over digital mediums today. 
 
Because of this, it’s essential that aspiring young professionals build and refine their professional communication skills. 
 
In this workshop, students will be working through a range of hands-on activities and challenges to build their written and spoken communication skills. Starting with the basics around tone of voice and active listening, students will be exploring how to tailor their messaging to the person they’re speaking to. 
 
From there, we’ll be turning our attention to written communication skills as we dive into the world of email communication. Looking at how to structure emails, create email signatures, and adapt vocabulary choices to suit the person you’re emailing, students will be working in groups to review sample emails and compose their own for different scenarios. 
 
Finally, we’ll be wrapping up the program by exploring presentation skills. During this time students will be developing strategies to effectively share an idea in a professional setting as they explore how to structure a presentation and create effective visual aids. 
 
This is a hands on program designed to get students working in teams to practice their skills in communication.
