As we continue to delve deeper into the mysteries of the universe, the necessity for creating sustainable habitats on other planets for long-duration space missions is becoming increasingly important.
Our Space Designers Program is designed to challenge students to think creatively and innovatively when it comes to designing potential habitats for different planets. The program will begin by exploring current advancements in space habitat design, such as 3D printing buildings on Mars, to inspire students to think about the possibilities and innovative ways they can create their own habitats. Students will then select a planet of their choice and take into account the unique considerations of that planet’s environment while designing their habitat. The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to envision and design potential habitats, while considering the specific needs of different users, to gain an understanding of the challenges of living in space, and to spark an interest in STEM fields.
